
Of the close to 5000 Dutch military men who would receive the Cross for Justice around 1360 would account for the Navy participation during the Korean war. The first ship that would participate was the Hr. MS. Evertsen, a torpedo boat hunter with a crew of 220.
It would return to Indonesia on July 3rd 1950 in order to prepare for the participation in the War in Korea and after 3 days it would start the travels. After arrival it would be part of the blockade of teh coast of Korea and it would escort troop transport ship to the safety of the harbour.
It would also be part of the Siege of Wonsan in March 1951 before being relieved from duty in April 1951 by the HMS Van Galen fo the Dutch navy.
This medal group is from a sailor of the HMS Evertsen, the first ship in Korean waters of the Duch Navy with a crew of only 220 this is a rare group.
